Our Mission:
 
Garland & Associates is a service oriented business for Medical Legal Public Relations and Marketing for Medical Specialists. Our purpose is to develop referrals for treatment cases, medical legal evaluations, including, impairment evaluations for Workers' Compensation, fitness for duty evaluations, independent medical examinations, and expert witness testimony. The specialists will be represented to all appropriate parties involved in Workers' Compensation, Human Resources, and in the Civil Liability field.

Our goal is to represent specialists that are expertly trained and highly skilled in their specialty. There will be no connection between the practices. The common thread between them will be their desire to accurately evaluate for medical legal purposes any potential impairment or disability, and any potential future medical care.

If treatment is necessary for Workers' Compensation cases the California MTUS guidelines will be utilized to diagnose and treat the injured worker. The treatment goal will be to return the injured worker back to work, as quickly as possible, and within the appropriate time frame. For serious injury cases the most important goal will be to return the injured worker to an active functioning level in order for them to participate in activities of daily living  with work and family.

For the workers' compensation field, each specialist will be encouraged to become certified as a QME and will be available for Agreed Medical Evaluations, They will be thoroughly knowledgeable with the California Workers' Compensation system in order to prepare ratable comprehensive permanent impairment reports.
A comprehensive medical legal report will indicate if a medical impairment has resulted from an injury based on the AMA Guides 5th Edition, Almaraz Guzman, and other case law. Responsible and ratable reporting will be mandatory.

In regards to  a Fitness for Duty evaluation each specialist will evaluate the worker's specific case on it's merits and will report as accurately as possible the medical and impairment status of the patient while utilizing all information pertaining to the job description and duties, and any other requirements provided by the employer.

For the Civil Liability field each specialist will be required to use their best efforts to accept an equal number of referrals from the plaintiff and defense sources in order to maintain an objective balance in preparing medical legal testimony and reporting. The primary goal will be to accurately evaluate and rate an individual's claim of injury to provide credible and responsible medical legal testimony based on expert experience and skill level as a specialist in their respective field.

The established goal and primary foundation for Garland & Associates is to keep medical communication as clearly defined as possible within the appropriate medical legal format, including the specific requirements for workers' compensation cases, fitness for duty, and civil liability cases for all parties involved in medical legal cases.
